Frequently Asked Questions
Answers on how we work, what a project involves, what to send us first and how enquiries, quotations and invoices are handled.
Questions we are asked most often
These answers cover scope, preparation and payment for the advisory work we do. If your question is not here, write to us through the contact page and we will answer it directly.
What kind of organisations do you work with?
We advise television networks, production companies and live event operators who need clearer pictures, cleaner sound and more dependable workflows. Clients range from small regional news operations to teams running multi-camera studio floors. Most enquiries come from producers, technical directors and engineers who already know their problem and want an outside opinion.
Do you install equipment or only advise?
Our work is advisory. We produce plans, drawings, written reviews and guidance, and we explain the reasoning behind each recommendation so your own engineers or chosen contractors can carry it out. We can discuss specifications with suppliers on your behalf, but fitting and cabling are done by the team you appoint.
How do I start an enquiry?
Use the form on the contact page and describe the production, the space or the fault you are dealing with. A short note is enough to begin. We read every enquiry, reply by email and may ask a few follow-up questions before we agree what the work should cover.
What should I send before we talk?
Useful items include a floor plan or room dimensions, a list of current cameras, microphones and desks, and a rough signal flow diagram if you have one. Add the show format, transmission schedule and crew size. None of this needs to be polished; sketches and photographs of the room are perfectly acceptable.
Can you work around a live transmission schedule?
Yes. Reviews and planning sessions are arranged around your rehearsal and transmission calendar, and we avoid asking for access to systems that are on air. Where observing a production is useful, we agree the date and our role with the technical director beforehand so that the crew is not disrupted.
How is a project priced?
Each service has a stated price on the Prices page, together with what it includes and what would change it, such as the size of the studio or the number of cameras. After your enquiry we send a written quotation confirming the scope and fee, so you know the cost before any work begins.
How do I pay for the work?
Nothing is bought on this website. Once you accept the written quotation, we issue an invoice and you pay it by bank transfer using the details shown on it. We start work when the arrangement is confirmed in writing, and invoices state the terms clearly.
What happens if I need to cancel or change the scope?
Tell us as soon as you can and we will adjust the quotation or stop the work. Any refund or charge for work already done follows our payment and refund policy, which sets out the terms in plain language. Changes to scope are always agreed in writing before they affect the fee.
